The King of Lydia Croesus ordered the arrest of the oracle then after misinterpreting her divine prediction as being an indication to invade then Persia. The Greeks invasion of Persia ended in horrible defeat. Thus came to an end the mystical era of knowledge imparted by the Pythia of Delphi in the areas of mathematics, philosophy, geography, and divine wisdom.
