 Jane Powers stared out of her third floor brownstone apartment window at the rain collecting in small drab puddles near the traffic light on the corner.  "Another Saturday night home alone." she thought to herself remorsefully thinking of her recently ended relationship of three years.  Although not the best relationship she thought at least it was something.

Resigning herself to her fate she trudged begrudgingly to her small white plaster cracked bedroom where she proceeded to crawl into bed and fall into a deep restful sleep dreaming of her ideal soul mate.  Morning came With an obtrusive Beep! Beep! Beep! As her alarm clock sounded its annoying wake up call on Sunday morning.  "Damn!" She thought to herself. I know I  turned that alarm off!  As if fate called her to a new day she arose remarkably refreshed amazed at the lucidity of her recollection of the previous nights dream-scape.  Marveling at the well chiseled olive skinned ruggedly handsome features of the man in her dreams that played through her head like a flash animated movie.  She visualized his smooth sharp features as if he were standing right in front of her. The image sent a tingling sensation through out her extremities.  

A monotone digital ring brought out of her trance like state and Jane realized her phone was ringing. "Who could that be at this ungodly hour." Jane thought to herself irritably. Jane proceeded to let her answering machine pick up so she could screen the call.  A melodic upbeat voice streamed out of the tiny speaker in her sleek black phone " Hi Jane it's Debbie are you there? Come on Jane pick up the phone.  I know your there". Debbie was Jane's best friend for fifteen years who constantly provided morale support and put an optimistic spin on everything.  Now more than ever since Roger and her broke up she spent more and more time with Debbie. "Come on Jane answer the phone." the miniaturized voice said pleadingly " theirs an awesome party tonight and I wanted to get some new clothes for it." Jane remembered the last party Debbie and her had gone to it was where she had met Roger. 

Roger's light sparkling demeanor, deep rich brown eyes, and beautiful wavy brown hair had immediately drawn Jane closer to him without her even knowing it.  A magnetic unseen force drew her closer and closer to his circle of intermingling friends as she felt her inhibitions melt away at the sight of his effervescent smile. Debbie made the introductions reading her friends enamored looks as a psychic reads tarot cards.  Debbie knew exactly what to say to get Jane out of her comfort zone.  Which was actually a good thing as Jane tended to be slightly introverted.  Jane said "Hello I'm Jane nice to..." before she could finish Debbie interjected with her sophomoric wit "of course your Jane I just said that silly."  Jane turned three shades of red as embarrassment and anger roiled through her veins at her friends childish comment and her own blunder of iteration.  "Oh well Deb" Jane sniped back at her with a sharp steely glare that poignantly stung at Deb like a sharp psychic sword through her psyche. Jane followed up the first blow with a follow up jab "were not all as sharp as you waitresses."  Roger interjected appropriately with finesse and tact of a true diplomat reading a tense international incident about to unravel and explode his empathetic almost psychic abilities allowed him to diffuse the situation without hurting either women's feelings.  Roger calmly said(to be continued)
