In my spiritual reading for November, I see that preparation for the winter months begins early this year. Looking forward the need to ready ourselves emotionally, spiritually, and physically for the tough winter months ahead becomes readily apparent as we reflect soulfully on the high cost that lack of planning and poor judgment introduced into our lives during the recent past.
Putting the work into planning and budgeting during November assures us that we meet our needs this coming winter while living within our means. Overall, the diligent planning and sage forethought we put in this month instills a feeling of heightened well being, safety, and security into our lives helping us to start the New Year on the right foot.
Although this task may prove more difficult for some to accomplish then others remembering the allegorical tale of the ant and the grasshopper may impart some motivation for those that rather “wing it” this fall. However, the peace of mind alone afforded to those that diligently prepare for the dark cold winter months should be motivation enough for most.
Most importantly remember to remain thankful for what we have this fall. Although planning and budgeting require sacrifices rejoicing in what we have rather than becoming bitter over what we do not makes life a little more enjoyable for us and the people we love most. Remembering and reflecting on those less fortunate then ourselves who struggle daily just to get a bowl of rice to eat may help ease the pain when we start to feel as though we are missing out on something or are entitled to something.
On a final note, remember that sharing is caring. Give of yourself during November. Whether you give your time, knowledge, or make a charitable donation, giving of yourself unconditionally imparts a level of happiness that for exceeds any momentary happiness you may glean from buying a new dress, piece of jewelry, or cell phone.
